Indigenous Lands are Unceded and Unsurrendered

In the fall of 2021, New Brunswick Quakers were surprised by the news that the Attorney General of New Brunswick, Ted Flemming, had instructed civil servants to no longer use the words “unceded” or “unsurrendered” when offering land acknowledgements at meetings or gatherings.

New Brunswick Monthly Meeting has taken up the issue and has written to the Attorney General, with a copy to Premier Blaine Higgs, opposing this change of policy.
